SELF REFLECTION SWEATER PANT
The Self Reflection Sweater Set is inspired from the stunning mirror work embroideries from Gujarat, India. The mirror work embroidery is traditionally applied onto silk or cotton woven cloth. The cloth is decorated beautifully with colorful threads but the embroidery adds weight and bulkiness to it, making it impractical to wear in hot or cold climates.
I thought of creating a modernized innovative textile inspired from the traditional embroidery and infused with modern machine knitting techniques. I updated the base cloth from woven to knitted structure to increase stretch, flexibility, structure and tenacity. The pattern created with colorful threads is imprinted as print in the machine program to reduce bulkiness and increase longevity. There is the use of Jacquard knitting to create the exact pattern. The mirror work of the original embroidery is applied onto the knitted structure for an equally stunning effect!
The Sweater Pants is designed in Italian silk and viscose yarns on a 14gg knitting machine. It features ribbing waistband to sit securely at the waist level. An invisible zipper at wearer's right waist allows her to freely put it on. The ribbing at the back waistband is scooped to accentuate the curves. Pair it with the Self Reflection Sweater Suit to complete the set!
