In my research to create the perfect cashmere sweater, I can well say I returned home. I found that the first cashmere fibers were developed in the Kashmir region of the Himalaya in India. The harsh winters in the region naturally produced the softest fibers on the goats. This luxurious fiber was developed into pashmina and traded with the rest of the world via the Silk Trade Route.

The name "cashmere" itself derives directly from Kashmir, cementing the region's historical importance as the birthplace of this luxury textile tradition.
